Hello My Beautiful Creative Friends!

So much growth and change has happened the last couple of years... not just covid! My whole family and I have been moving, growing and healing.

I am very happy to share I just finished up a year long internship with Day Schildkret and I am now a Ceritfied Teacher of his Morning Alters earth art technique. This art form is part's impermianent earth art, meditation and ritual.

I'm happy to announce a new workshop in combination with Robert Halley, a MA certified teacher as well as Health and Wellness coach.

The Greens of Summer transform
into the fire of Autumn's moan.
Equal light & equal dark,
we now reap what we have sown.
Let the darkness be an invitation
to reflect and release.
So that Winter can nourish you
with deep rest and inner peace.

Blessed I am by your presence.
Blessed we are, for the universe has so incredibly tied us together. This is the year. 2018. Take this year, this day, this very second… deep into your soul and ignite your creative energy. Sculpt it into your very being and every aspect of your life. Be the creator, for only YOU can be.

Be You.
Be Authentic.
Be Creative.

Be Kind.

Learn

Grow

Shed judgment, it’s time to leave it behind.

Be who you are meant to be.

Join me, take a stand and say,
“Look out cause here I come
I am marching out to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apologies
This is me
This is me” ("This Is Me" Benj Pasek)

This IS going to be a pivotal year…take the reins, plot your course, work hard and enjoy - Be grateful and it will be AWESOME!

I am SO looking forward to this incredible year and being a part of it. A gift for you is on its way, be on the lookout, oh it’s going to be fun.

“Mother Earth may I dig from your belly the clay with which you and I will fashion vessels for the use of our people for our food. We thank you that you have given to us abundantly and may we also give abundantly to all our brothers and sisters.”

Wow what a jam packed, and sometimes crazy :-),  past Fall/Holiday season it's been!

I'm ready and willing to slam on the breaks...

But first I want to get you caught up to some of the great things that have gone on...

My summer workshops were so incredibly inspiring- I am completely honored by the amazing creatives that I got to work with...

And the beauty of their work and souls took my breath away.

Thank You    Thank You    Thank You

Just take a peek at the pics to see some of the magic that was made~

Then I dove head first into my soul, my Brand, my purpose and my upcoming direction...

This is a little peek at the Big things in the works...
Picture

In the fall I was so excited and happy to go to a Raku play date with my cousin Andrea, at the home of an incredible dynamic duo couple in the LI ceramic world.
The two of us were giddy!

November- I was so happy that a very special one of my Mica bowls  (born on the night of the blood moon eclipse) was chosen  for an art show  in Nassau...

and then I was ecstatic when that very same bowl was welcomed with open arms by the   Unist’ot’en clan of the Wet’suwet’en nation in northern BC to be used in their new Healing Center!!!

This incredible tribe is Headed by  a group of  indigenous women who are leading the pushback against destructive development on their land.  Wow... what an honor!

...and amazingly ironic, this sharing with them happened Thanksgiving week!

With that bowl now off in it's new home I started on another -

But ...back to Thanksgiving we got to spend some great time with My Dad & Step Mom  and soaked up some beauty

Oh and all the while I Organized and set up my Art room, hall displays and started teaching my new set of 490 students!

Ok ok I know that is a lot of blog, so I take a breather...for now.
This is just a snipit of how great a crazy creative life can be :-)

With much Love & Blessings,
Renee

Fatalism

8/28/2015

Doing tons of reading/research on the creative process.  I might be writing a book. Thought I'd share.

Creative Fatalism- The fear that your (artistic) Fate rests in your own Hands...
but that your hands are weak.

And with that statement I'm going to tell you absoulutely ANY one of YOU reading this statement can become a good drawer, painter, photographer...artist!!!

How did you learn how to walk or write? practice.

How do great musicians or atheletes become great?
Practice... & Desire.

Talent is NOT miraculous.

People with talent WORKED hard for it,  Do not take that away from them by saying "I can't draw...I just didn't get the talent gene".

That is a slap in the face, and a huge insult. Stop saying it.

Re-Learning to be Creative

5/23/2015

Nature VS Nurture? This may surprise you. Your creativity and ability are like anything else in this world ie: a sport, music, writing, driving, cooking… and yeah even the things we don’t want to do like cleaning :-/  If you want to get better at it (or not lol) – no matter what – the more you practice the better you will become.
It is inevitable.

Now this flies in the face of so many people out there who were programmed into thinking that their creativity, or lack of, is some sort of Divine Gift and that they weren’t born with it. UGH!!! So often they equate their lack of Ability (I can’t draw!) with a lifetime sentence of “Not a Creative” that has been tattooed all throughout the inner workings of their brain and central nervous system. This is just NOT the truth. Time to De-program... I’m bringing out the big guns…
Picture
Ok ok Picasso most probably never even actually said it; however, I found it on wikiquote. A similar and interesting (verified) quote that I stumbled upon:

“The Creative adult is the child who has survived”    -Ursula K. Le Guin

And… I kind of love that Banksy considers it important enough to use in his art-

Picture
The child who survived? Yes “Virginia”– that child is in there.  Right there inside you at this very second, she was always there. She is the one who asks the “but what if’s” and if nurtured the one who will propel your creative self with the energy needed to make huge breakthroughs… She is also the one who gets attacked and chided by the Intellectually Mature Critics. The IMC’s for short.

Picture
Who are the IMC’s?  Hmm well I can’t tell you who they were originally but I can tell you a little about them for sure. Their beliefs are archaic hand me downs, thoughts that were filtered through generations of some prehistoric leftover part of our brains. Dogmas. We are taught to believe them, we have grown up with them, and we see our families and friends believing them. We are surrounded!  At some point in time they probably came in handy, but now no longer serve a purpose.

I have a great little story about a ham (yup! a ham) that is a good example of how dogmas get past on.

Picture
There once was this young lady who was preparing her first Easter feast for her family. She had just recently gotten married and was looking forward to taking on the new tradition and to use all her new cookware. Her whole family was invited, grandma’s too. Her Mom came early to give her a hand in the traditional groundworks. The first thing they needed to do was to prepare and get the ham in to cook. The Mom took charge and showed her exactly how to season and trim off the ends of the ham before baking. The young lady had grown up seeing it done this way… but decided to ask anyway…
“why do we trim off the ends of the ham?” The mother thought about it shrugged her shoulders and said “that’s the way grandma does it and it’s just the way we’ve always done it”.   Later during dinner when they were just about to carve the beautiful ham the girl remembered to ask grandma “why do we cut the ends off of the ham before we cook it?”. The Grandma at first didn’t really understand the question but then smiled…
“I’ve always had to cut the ends off of the ham because I never had a pan big enough to fit”.

Picture
So what should we do about them, those dang criticizing dogmas?! Recognize when they are speaking or speaking through somebody and that what they are saying is hurtful, not helpful, realize where it is coming from (prehistoric brain) and move on. Make a conscience effort to move on. Press on and get back to asking those “But what if’s?”. Conquer the critic. Nurture your creativity. Do art. DO A LOT OF ART.

Creative Talent = Desire + Courage + Practice

Some incredible words of wisdom from Joseph Campbell~

“We are having experiences all the time which may on occasion render some sense of this, a little intuition of where your bliss is. Grab it. No one can tell you what it is going to be. You have to learn to recognize your own depth.”

“If you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. When you can see that, you begin to meet people who are in the field of your bliss, and they open the doors to you. I say, follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.”

Your Creativity,
It’s there, I can guarantee it. I can also guarantee that cultivating your Creativity will become the most rewarding experience of your life.
Be vulnerable. Be Courageous. Be Creative.
